Behaviour Change Intervention: The Food Trainer App

Around 70% of the food wasted in the UK is produced by citizens in their own homes, with over 4.5 million tonnes of food that could have been eaten being thrown away by UK households every year.

In a proof-of-concept trial, WRAP developed a modified version of an app that was originally created by a team of psychologists from the universities of Exeter and Cardiff to support people to reduce the overconsumption of food. WRAP wanted to test whether the Food Trainer app, known as Food T, would also be effective in influencing food waste related behaviour.
