The Materials Facility (MRF) Reporting Portal is an online tool which allows users to interrogate the data around material quality supplied by MRFs. This comes under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 (Schedule 9A - the ‘MF Regs’).
Overview
The aim of the MRF Reporting Portal is to be a transparent display of data supplied to the Regulator (Environment Agency or National Resources Wales) by the facilities. Greater transparency of data around material quality should enable all parties who supply, sort and use recycled materials to be better informed. This should enable a stronger evidence base behind decisions, encourage competition in the market and lead to higher quality recycling overall.
Update: March 2021
Since 2014, data reported under requirements within Part 2 of Schedule 9 of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 has been made publicly accessible via the WRAP Materials Facility (MF) Reporting Portal (the ‘MF Portal’).
Following a 2020 review of this data reporting mechanism, a decision has been made to no longer maintain the MF Portal going forward. This data will instead now be made available by Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency.
2020 data for England Material Facility sites will be made available by the Environment Agency in quarter April-June 2021, while 2020 data for Wales Material Facility sites will be made available by Natural Resources Wales by September 2021.
This change should not affect the ability of users to interrogate or analyse the data collected under Part 2 of Schedule 9 of the Regulations. If you have any questions or feedback regarding this change, please direct these to: [email protected].
