“We’re all working towards the same goal of trying to make the world a better, more sustainable place for future generations. I like being a part of that.”
I joined WRAP as an Apprentice in 2021, and I’m really glad I did! I left Sixth Form during COVID lockdown, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. It was such a strange time generally that I just wanted to get stuck into the world of work and keep busy.
I looked for a role where I could learn on the job and get a valuable qualification. So, when I stumbled upon WRAP it seemed perfect. At the end of my first two years, I’ll have Level 3 HR Support and Level 3 CIPD qualifications, but more importantly, I’m really impressed with the work we do at WRAP. It’s very inspiring and it’s a cause that’s important to me.
A working week for me is really varied, as I work on a variety of different HR projects. I get a lot of freedom to manage my time between work and apprenticeship training. One of my core areas of work is to support our recruitment process and onboard all our new starters. This involves arranging interviews, preparing offers, and completing eligibility checks. So, if you apply for a job with us, I may well be one of the first WRAP colleagues you talk to! I’m also responsible for ensuring all colleagues records are kept up to date and am always on hand to answer colleague queries.
I work in a lovely, supportive team and, when I think about it, that sums up WRAP perfectly. It’s a caring and friendly environment; people are always willing to help you out and I’ve learnt a lot from others around the organisation. I think it’s a unique place to work because we’re all working towards the same goal of trying to make the world a better, more sustainable place for future generations. I like being a part of that.
My top-tip for new recruits: Being able to ‘flex’ my time and not be locked in to the typical 9-5 is great. You should have a look at the other benefits WRAP offers.
