Global network of Plastics Pacts welcomes first regional Pact

The first regional Plastics Pact – the European Plastics Pact – has launched today in Brussels.

This Pact has been initiated by the French Ministry of the Ecological and Solidary Transition, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, and the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food, in consultation with more than 80 organisations from across Europe and with the support of WRAP. In line with all the Pacts in the global network, it will work towards developing a circular economy for plastics.

Marcus Gover, WRAP CEO, who attended today’s launch, said: “We are proud to have supported the development of this exciting new agreement. The launch of the first regional Plastics Pact is testament to the strength and reputation of the global network of national Pacts which are paving the way in transforming the way we make, use and dispose of plastic.”

WRAP launched The UK Plastics Pact, the first Pact in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s global network, in April 2018. Its membership now stands at over 100 businesses and supporters which account for around 85% of the plastic packaging on our supermarket shelves.
