International climate action NGO WRAP has made a further key appointment to its senior leadership team as it welcomes Vijay Doshi to its board of Trustees.
Vijay, who has a wealth of experience within multinational organisations, is passionate about circularity, the transition to renewable energies and promoting the need for an integrated national policy. He becomes the seventh WRAP trustee under the organisation’s Chair, Sebastian Munden.
Vijay Doshi said, “A sustainable and circular economy can unlock tremendous value for society and in equal measure protect virgin resources. When combined with the use of new materials and technology, we can protect nature, address climate change, and create opportunity for the world’s children. WRAP’s international growth is essential to help provide the necessary frameworks and expertise to embed the circular economy into our everyday lives, and I am delighted to join the board.”
Vijay has worked in Europe, South and East Asia and in the Middle East. His career has seen him play key roles within major multinationals, particularly around generating new start-ups for those companies in activities such as commodity trading and establishing new business centres. He most recently held positions of executive CFO with the Carbon Disclosure Project, the Guide Dogs and at Motability as well as being a Non-Executive Director at the University College of Osteopathy.
Harriet Lamb, WRAP CEO said, “We welcome Vijay onto our talented and passionate board of trustees. We are lucky to have Vijay’s invaluable insights as we expand the impact of our work internationally. We already have an office in Australia, are preparing to open in the USA and have our eyes on other countries where we hope to deepen our collaborations with partners. I very much look forward to working with Vijay over the coming years and expanding our reach into new areas – both geographically and sectorally.”
Vijay began his career in practice (Moores Rowland/ Blakemores) and subsequently helped launch catalogue and internet trading at Marks & Spencer. He later worked in startups with Royal Dutch Shell and Qatar Energy which accelerated his interest in alternative and renewable energy sources. Vijay is a Fellow of the ICAEW (UK) and has a particular interest in mobilising private capital towards sustainable economic models that offer social improvement through entrepreneurship and education.
Sebastian Munden, WRAP Chair said, “It’s great to welcome Vijay to WRAP as we take our work to new parts of the world. We aim to become one of the go-to multi-country delivery partners for governments and businesses in reducing greenhouse gas emissions linked to consumption and establishing more circular living. Vijay will be a very valuable addition to our board.”
