- Re-melting cullet uses 25% less energy than making glass from raw materials
- Each tonne of cullet also saves 1.2 tonnes of raw materials from being extracted

Produced in consultation with the UK glass industry and other key stakeholders, this QP will provide collectors, recyclers and processors with a clear set of practices and standards designed to increase both the volume and quality of flat glass cullet being sold to manufacturers.
As part of this guidance, WRAP provides a report on good practice and specifications for flat glass recycling, as well as detailing the benefits of good practice in flat glass recycling.

The purpose of this Good Practice Guide is to help those involved in the collection and recycling of flat glass to increase the quantity of recovered glass which can be recycled into flat glass manufacture.

Flat glass specification
This specification is for flat glass cullet which is delivered to the glass manufacturer for use in the manufacture of new flat glass.
The purpose of the specification is to provide cullet processors with guidance on the quality of cullet required by the glass manufacturer.
It is for guidance only as each manufacturer may have their own requirements depending on site equipment and the final product.
