Value from Food Waste Grant

• This grant aimed to develop innovative solutions for surplus and waste that challenge current thinking, add economic value to existing management processes, and develop solutions and markets that will deliver new products into new applications.
• Funding was awarded through the Resource Action Fund to support pilot projects which trialled and tested innovative processes and ideas that specifically targeted difficult and challenging streams of wasted food.
• Grants supported the capital and revenue costs needed to pilot these innovative methods to transform food waste into valuable products.
• Recipients involved collaboration between industry and a research organisation, such as a university or research institute.

Grants awarded

Two organisations in England were awarded funding for projects aiming to save 143 tonnes of difficult and challenging streams of food from going to waste.
