David Rogers

International Director

Growing up by the sea on the Sussex coast and seeing first-hand the impact of pollution and early climate change David was inspired to take action and make a difference.

Having been with WRAP for more than 14 years David's passion for tackling global environmental issues has seen him travel around the world speaking to ministers, ambassadors, directors of major corporations and royalty across many different countries about the need for circular plastics, food and textiles economies.

"We are at a tipping point - we need a greater sense of urgency and action and that's why taking the opportunity to discuss solutions is so important. Tackling the unsustainable production, consumption and disposal of food and products is making a real difference, but we need to escalate it. We need the chance to tell more people and get more action underway internationally - it's so important."

David has established a reputation as a global leader in sustainability, spearheading and delivering projects across Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He is recognised as one of the world’s leading experts in collaborative, public-private agreements, writing the blueprint for voluntary agreements on food, plastics, and textiles used by many countries today.

"When I started WRAP was a UK-only organisation and I felt that it needed to do more globally. Driving the expansion of our voluntary agreement model, I've been given the opportunity to go to places like the USA, Mexico, and Australia to speak about what's happening in those countries. Now we are working with amazing partners around the world to accelerate global climate action. We really are now seeing things starting to happen."

David's speaking history has seen him take the platform to the EU in Brussels, the OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) in Paris, several United Nation Climate Change Conferences, as well as addressing the Parliament in Canberra, appearing on national television in Colombia and appearing on an official panel with HRH Prince Edward and Princess Zatasha of Malaysia.

"It's important that countries and organisations know WRAP has raised and dispersed more than £20m worth of funding in the pursuit of tackling climate change and pollution around the world. We are putting our money into getting tangible results. We now have a network of Plastic Pacts and Food Pacts in many different countries."

A real motivator for me is staring at a world map and seeing where change is happening because of WRAP and our partners. We have been the catalyst for action and that's what drives me and keeps me going.
